Crestfallen 04:35
I woke up two in the morning gave up and tiptoed downstairs you turn up asleep in the guest room my cat has claimed you for his own you should be sleeping beside me if I could spin words into gold like you would I’d say something perfect and you would do what you were told: love me now I can’t even fall right I get stuck in mid air hanging on your every word baby I’m crestfallen too just like you there was a time when you’d sing me your new songs just friends by the light of your silly neon sign then I opened my heart and now that bird has flown street lights shine through the blinds they dance on the ceiling in lines like the ones I drew between us see I can play your game but it's not the same
2.
Collide 04:37
all my gravity all my longing for you pulling down the moon I can't rise above it every reminder of it still an open wound until I get a night to get what I want from you there's no black and white all the lies are true you were the last domino to fall there's nothing left but you can have it all everything I've tried I swallowed all my pride need you to collide with me I could set the scene for rediscovering but I know what we'd find all your sweetness and light in the dead of the night it will leave me blind I'm not sure I care can't call this surviving wanna tall drink of you even though I'm driving home until I get a night to get what I want from you there's no black and white all the lies are true

Parallel 03:34
we had history it was the gravity that held us together as we hurtled through space now we're in between stars pulling apart I could reach out and wipe the tears from your face hold that thought for a moment last night I lost half a year just like that woke in the morning without you so close to one but we're two flying in parallel we had mystery I kept you guessing as we put on our leather and spoiled for a fight the doors were swinging wide no one was singing I think everyone ran out in the middle of the night we'll catch a solar wind the course of our love will bend circle back from only friends just like that
4.
an ordinary day with no plans wandrin' through the park we hold hands suddenly you drop a bomb and rearranged In the middle of a joke it slipped out like it's been on the tip of your tongue how am I supposed to just keep on like nothing's changed you can't unring that bell you can't uncast that spell don't know if you can tell that I feel it too baby I love you a hundred people all around us noone feels the ground beneath us shifting underneath the weight of a turn of phrase suddenly the tension leaves me let's let ourselves go completely we didn't see it coming but we can ride this wave I know you didn't plan it this way I've waited so long for you to say those words I don't care how I wanna live in this world now
5.
6.
one more week through you bring home takeout for us 'the least I could do' you say it so sweet wanna break you in two I'll start a fight every Friday night I'll turn out that light (we'll see) I don't know why I come out We both know how this story goes Pretending I’m happy without you alone ’til you come and carry me home this ship of our life sailing on waters as smooth as the edge of your knife you leave in the sink every morning it's maddening I dream of the end let me pretend you're just a friend (we'll see) midnight in the darkness I will reach for you meet me in the middle like you always do
7.
you said you would take me where the sand meets the sea you were the king of act one baby but you grew tired of me I came alone I sat on the beach and cried my tears were drops in the cold winter ocean one by one I'm getting over you I can’t hear your unkindness over the power of the waves breaking so long I knew only blindness in the sting of the salt I'm waking up in the air the dark clouds rant and rave my tears are the drops in the cold winter ocean with each one I'm getting over you your version of me would walk into the sea but I found the high ground and the winter set me free
8.
tonight is the spoonful of sugar the sweet in the bitter the glimmer of sun through the clouds rolling in bringing winter I've been reading lines while you've been missing signs trying to please me pour a glass of wine the 1999 goes down easy you should take some notes boy pick your jaw up off of the floor try not to break down oh honey do I was all in for a penny but I can't spare a pound not for you I get no pleasure from this never did from your kisses I knew it all along this soiree is my way of saying I let it go too long can't say the same about you boy

about

"CRESTFALLEN" is an album of chill, pretty pop songs influenced by chillhop, lofi, chamber pop, jazz, r&b, and a mishmash of other things. But it's a Nagoon project so of course the songs still go big sometimes.

The album explores and celebrates the small moments in our lives that can feel disproportionately momentous. At the same time I was writing this album I was also making big bombastic retrowave. This project was a cozy yin to that yang: acoustic instrumentation (mostly), less diatonic chord progressions. I had a blast arranging strings and brass, channeling my inner Burt Bacharach, and dialing in some Bond theme guitar tones, to name some of my favorite moments.

But the real magic is vocalist Alyssa Fischer. When I first heard her singing a demo of "Crestfallen" I knew this was a special combination of genre and singer. I was so inspired to keep writing songs in this style for her to sing that it became an album.

I hope you enjoy chilling out and cozying up with these songs. May they bring you some peace in these tumultuous times.
